Woman hurt in shooting outside Lakewood bar

Police are investigating after a woman was shot outside a bar in Lakewood on Wednesday morning.

After 2:00 a.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot outside Oaktree Food and Drink on Steilacoom Blvd. SW.

When police arrived, a woman was found shot, and she was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

FOX 13’s Jade Elliott was at the scene gathering more information.

Crime scene tape and evidence markers blanketed the parking lot outside the bar. Police marked spent shell casings on the ground as well as bullet holes in two cars that were still parked at the scene.

According to the Lakewood Police Department (LPD), the investigation revealed there was a physical fight in the parking lot outside the bar between several women. It is unclear what the relationship between them may be.

At one point during the fight, shots were fired, and a woman was hit in the legs.

A man who fired shots during the incident was detained at the scene. However, police are still investigating to find out his involvement in the situation, because it appears he was not responsible for shooting the woman.

There was a heavy police presence a couple of blocks away from the Oaktree Food and Drink. We've learned that the woman who was shot ran over to this area before being stopped by police.

LPD detectives will continue interviewing everyone involved in the fight and witnesses to fully understand what happened.

Authorities say this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
