Teen killed in Seattle park shooting, 3 suspects arrested in Everett

Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened in South Seattle's New Holly neighborhood Thursday night. Three suspects were arrested in Everett after a high-speed pursuit.

According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), at around 8:30 p.m., someone called 911 to report a shooting near Central Park, located near the corner of Rockery Dr. S and Holly Park Dr. S. This area is on the northwest side of Central Park.

When police arrived at the scene, they found an unresponsive 14-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. Officers treated him until Seattle Fire medics took over. The teen was taken to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment, but despite their additional aid, the teenager died in the hospital.

A King County helicopter tracked a suspect vehicle as it drove through city streets — westbound on 129th over I-5, then northbound. The pilot said at one point their chopper lost sight of the suspect vehicle near the Northgate neighborhood.

Authorities stopped the suspect vehicle, a light blue Hyundai Tucson, outside the Madison Avenue Pub and took three people into custody.

The SPD says this incident continues to be an active and ongoing investigation.

Homicide detectives are currently working to determine what led to the shooting in the first place.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
